WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is a facial volumizer that will give you a fuller, more youthful appearance. It also improves sunken cheeks and hollow eyes. Used in Europe since 1999, Sculptra is frequently called “the liquid facelift.”
Although we have used Sculptra “off label” for several years, Sculptra has recently been FDA approved specifically for cosmetic use and renamed SculptraAesthetic.
HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
Sculptra is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It improves appearance by providing a gradual increase in skin thickness.
DO I NEED A SKIN TEST PRIOR TO TREATMENT?
No skin testing is required prior to use.
ARE THE RESULTS FROM SCULPTRA IMMEDIATE?
No. After your first treatment, it may appear that Sculptra worked immediately because of swelling from the injection and the water used to dilute Sculptra. In a few days, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before your treatment. Sculptra takes time to gradually correct the depression in your skin.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
We will recommend the appropriate amount of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptra you will need at each session.
HOW LONG DO TREATMENT RESULTS LAST?
Sculptra lasts for up to 2 years.
DO INJECTIONS OF SCULPTRA HURT?
As with any injection, there may be some discomfort. Lidocaine, an anesthetic, is added to Sculptra. A topical anesthetic may also be used. Sculptra is injected in small amounts using a fine needle.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT?
Redness, swelling or bruising may occur in the treatment area. Within the first 24 hours after treatment, an ice pack should be applied several times a day to reduce swelling and bruising. For 5 days you should massage the treated areas several times a day to evenly distribute the product in the skin.
WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR SCULPTRA?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required to achieve optimum results should administer Sculptra.
CAN SCULPTRA BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TYPES OF TREATMENTS?
Absolutely! Many patients are happy with the results obtained by combining Sculptra with an immediate-acting dermal filler like Restylane or Juvederm as well as with Botox, a purified protein that reduces lines between the brows. A monthly HydraFacial MD treatment will also help your skin look healthy and radiant.
